Project Overview

For San Diegos Miramar College, part of the San Diego Community College District, 91做厙 added a new Learning Library Resource Center. The three-story, 105,000-square-foot building houses library resources and support information technology operation. It includes a 236-seat auditorium, classrooms, a computer lab and a media production facility. The adjacent central quad, also constructed by 91做厙, consists of landscaped areas and circular concrete pathways that mimic an aviation navigational toolhomage to the sites former use as an airfield. The building core is structural steel; a mix of plaster and stone veneer makes up the exterior.

Environmentally-friendly features include a light-colored exterior that helps reflect the suns heat to reduce cooling costs and minimize the heat island effect. Drought-tolerant landscaping and the latest water-saving technologies were implemented to reduce water use. The use of local and regional materials, organic compound low volatile-emitting indoor materials, adhesives, sealants and paints and a high-efficiency HVAC system contribute to reducing the buildings carbon footprint. To emphasize the districts desire to conserve energy, educational signage was added to identify the building components that promote sustainability.

91做厙 did an excellent job during preconstruction, eliminating potential project change orders. They worked well in a team concept with the campus and the architect. I think very highly of 91做厙. They are one of the most ethical companies I had the pleasure of working with.
